Phaetus aeFlex TPU-78D is a high-hardness, semi-rigid TPU filament. At Shore 78D it sits at the stiff end of the flexible spectrum - nothing like a soft 95A. The higher surface hardness and modulus mean it pushes through the extruder without buckling, so you get the success rate of a near-rigid material plus TPU's impact and abrasion resistance.

What it prints well: durable functional parts that need toughness without floppiness - snap-fit enclosures, bumpers and protective housings, semi-flexible brackets and jigs, gaskets and seals that must hold their shape, and reinforced living hinges.

Print settings (Phaetus TDS)

  • Nozzle / print temp: 210-230 °C
  • Bed temp: 50-70 °C
  • Build surface: glass, PEI film, or PC film
  • Print speed: 30-120 mm/s. Direct-drive extruders handle ≥100 mm/s comfortably; Bowden setups should stay 30-60 mm/s.
  • Cooling fan: on
  • Nozzle: standard brass or plated-copper. This is an unfilled TPU - no glass or carbon fiber - so it is not abrasive and does not require a hardened or DLC nozzle.

Drying - read this

TPU is hygroscopic. Wet filament oozes, prints with bubbles, and finishes rough. Keep the spool in a dry box below 15% RH once the vacuum bag is opened, and reseal in the original foil bag when not printing. If it has picked up moisture, dry at 70-80 °C for 4-6 hours to restore print quality.
