Phaetus aeWorthy ABS-GF is an ABS engineering filament reinforced with 10% chopped glass fiber. The glass loading raises stiffness and dimensional stability and cuts the warping you fight with plain ABS, while keeping ABS's toughness and chemical resistance. It also runs with noticeably lower odor than typical ABS. Good fit for functional parts, brackets, jigs, fixtures, enclosures, and printer components that need to stay flat and hold tolerance in a heated chamber.
Spec (Phaetus TDS):
- Base polymer: ABS + 10% glass fiber
- Diameter: 1.75mm | Spool: 1kg
- Nozzle temp: 250-270°C
- Bed temp: 100-110°C
- Density: 1.10 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)
- Glass transition: 101°C | Vicat softening: 106°C
Hardware you need:
- Hardened nozzle required. Glass fiber is abrasive and will chew through a brass nozzle in a few hundred grams. Run a hardened steel, DLC-coated, tungsten carbide, or ruby nozzle. A 0.4mm or larger hardened nozzle is the safe default. (See our hardened / tungsten-carbide nozzles to pair with this spool.)
- Enclosed printer. ABS-GF warps and delaminates in a cold draft, and printing ABS plus glass fiber releases VOCs/particulates — print enclosed, in a ventilated room, ideally with filtration.
- Dry before use. ABS-GF is hygroscopic; absorbed moisture shows up as stringing, surface fuzz, and weak layer bonding. If the spool has been open or sitting, dry it (roughly 70-80°C for 4-6 hours) and print from a dry box for best results.
This is a real engineering material, not a decorative filament — expect a matte, slightly textured finish and parts that are stiffer and more stable than standard ABS.
