Decent ASA-CF in Black is a carbon-fiber reinforced ASA filament for stiff, weather-ready functional prints. Use it when plain ASA is not rigid enough and PLA or PETG will not survive sunlight, heat, or outdoor service.

Why choose ASA-CF?

  • ASA base material: ASA is used for UV and weather resistance on outdoor brackets, panels, enclosures, fixtures, and printer parts.
  • Carbon-fiber reinforcement: adds stiffness, dimensional stability, and a dark matte texture that helps hide layer lines.
  • Black engineering finish: a practical color for visible functional parts, printer mods, jigs, and exterior hardware.

Specifications

  • Brand: Decent
  • Material: ASA-CF — carbon-fiber reinforced ASA
  • Color: Black
  • Format: FDM 3D-printer filament spool
  • Published diameter, net spool weight, tolerance, and carbon-fiber percentage: not exposed in the current product record or photo; verify packaging before adding exact numbers.

Printing notes

  • Use an enclosure. ASA is draft-sensitive and prints best in a ventilated enclosed printer.
  • Use a wear-resistant nozzle. Carbon-fiber filament is abrasive; pair it with a hardened steel nozzle, DLC, ruby, or tungsten-carbide nozzle.
  • Dry before tuning if needed. If you see popping, steam, rough extrusion, or excess stringing, dry the spool before chasing slicer settings.

Good fits

  • Outdoor printer parts, brackets, ducts, mounts, enclosures, panels, fixtures, and functional prototypes that need stiffness plus UV/weather resistance.
  • Voron-style enclosed printers and other enclosed FDM machines set up for abrasive engineering filament.

What it is not

  • Not a brass-nozzle filament; carbon fiber will wear ordinary brass nozzles.
  • Not a low-odor open-frame PLA replacement. Treat it like ASA: ventilate, enclose, and manage warping.
  • Not the best choice for highly impact-loaded parts where toughness matters more than stiffness.

Had some good experiences with Decents ABS filaments so got excited when I saw filled ASA drop here. Picked up this and a few other rolls and after drying them tossed it on to print. Prints easily with without issue. Printing around 265-270c for the hotend and 105c for the heated. Solid feel with a nice texture on the walls that hide layers well. Can't go wrong picking these up. The only complaint I have and really, this is more of a personal use case issue, is that there is a lot of filament wound on this spool. Enough that it pretty much sits about flush with the spool walls. If running a spool rewinder that spins on the rim of the spool, be sure to check clearance under the rollers as it might not clear them and cause friction or issues with it. Other than that though, this is without a doubt one of the most recent filaments.
