Yellow glass-fiber reinforced ABS for stiff functional prints. ABS-GF keeps the familiar ABS use case, then adds chopped glass fiber for a stiffer, more dimensionally stable matte part.
Why use ABS-GF instead of plain ABS?
- Stiffer parts: better suited to brackets, fixtures, printer parts, enclosures, and other functional prints where flex is the problem.
- Cleaner surface finish: the glass fill gives a muted matte look that helps hide layer lines, especially in yellow.
- Lower movement than unfilled ABS: still an ABS-family material, but the glass reinforcement helps reduce curl and dimensional drift.
Printing notes
- Abrasive material: use a hardened nozzle. A brass nozzle will wear quickly with glass-filled filament; pair it with a Phaetus hardened steel V6-style nozzle or Phaetus DLC hardened steel V6-style nozzle.
- Printer requirement: use an ABS-capable printer with an enclosure and ventilation.
- Dry before use: dry engineering filament before critical prints and store it sealed with desiccant.
Best use cases
- Functional 3D printer parts and shop fixtures
- Yellow brackets, covers, jigs, and mechanical housings
- Parts where stiffness and matte finish matter more than maximum impact toughness
What it is not
- Not a PLA-style easy-mode filament; expect ABS temperatures, enclosure use, and odor control.
- Not for brass nozzles unless you are intentionally sacrificing the nozzle.
- Not a direct substitute for outdoor ASA-GF when UV exposure is the main requirement; see Decent ASA-GF for weather-ready ASA-family prints.
