Short-body NEMA 17 stepper for compact extruders and motion builds. STEPPERONLINE/OMC 17HS08-1004S is a 4-wire bipolar motor with a 1.8° step angle, 1.0A/phase rating, and 16 N·cm (22.66 oz·in) holding torque in a compact 42 × 42 × 21.5mm frame.
Why use this motor
- Short 21.5mm body fits tight extruder and toolhead-adjacent layouts where a full-length NEMA 17 is too deep.
- 5mm D-shaft works with common printer pulleys, gears, and couplers designed for NEMA 17 motors.
- 1.0A phase current is easy to drive from common 3D-printer stepper drivers such as the BTT TMC2209 v1.2.

Fitment and use
Use this where you need a compact NEMA 17 motor for an extruder, feeder, or printer motion project. It is a useful spare or build part for compact Voron-style and ERCF work, including builds around the Enraged Rabbit Carrot Feeder, when the BOM calls for this short 17HS08-class motor.
Gotchas
- This is the standard 17HS08-1004S, not the high-temperature 17HS08-1004S-H version.
- Confirm your required torque and motor length before replacing a longer NEMA 17; this is intentionally compact.
- Connector termination may need to be adapted for your harness.
