A Phaetus Dragonfly BMO set up for hot, abrasive filament: the hotend, the black high-temperature sock, and a hardened steel nozzle in each of 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm. Everything is in its sealed Phaetus packaging. There are three kits.
What's in the kit
- 1× Phaetus Dragonfly BMO — all-metal, V6-interface hotend for 1.75 mm filament. Copper-alloy heat block, conical bi-metal heatbreak, specified to 500 °C with the right heater and sensor.
- 1× Phaetus Dragonfly High Temperature Sock — black, for the BMS/BMO heater block, good to 370 °C. The standard Dragonfly sock stops at 280 °C.
- 3× Phaetus hardened steel V6 nozzle — 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm, one of each. Over HRC60, rated to 450 °C.
Why these parts together
- Carbon-fiber, glass-fiber and glow filaments wear the bore out of a plated copper or brass nozzle. Hardened steel holds its size.
- The filaments that need a steel nozzle also print hot, and that is where the standard sock gives up. The high-temperature sock covers the gap.
- 0.4 for detail, 0.6 for everyday filled filament, 0.8 for big parts and fewer clogs with long fibers.
Gotchas
- Not included: heater cartridge and temperature sensor. For printing above 300 °C use a PT1000 or a high-temperature thermistor.
- BMO, not BMS: this is the V6-mount Dragonfly. A printer that expects the Creality-style BMS heatsink needs the other model.
- Temperature ceiling: the sock is the lowest-rated part at 370 °C; the nozzles are rated to 450 °C and the hotend to 500 °C.
- Hardened steel carries heat slower than copper. Expect to print 5–10 °C hotter than with the plated nozzle.
- Same parts, same shelf as the singles linked above — if the kit reads sold out, one of its parts is.
