The WAGO 221-415 5-conductor COMPACT splicing connector — the lever-actuated wire nut that replaced the twist-cap on every Voron and Klipper build we know. Five side-entry levers, 32 A / 450 V rating, transparent housing with inspection windows on both sides, and a verified 0.14–4 mm² / 24–12 AWG range for solid, stranded, and fine-stranded copper. One potential, one tidy bundle, zero tools.

Why this over the alternative

  • Lever, not twist. Strip 11 mm, lift the orange lever, drop the wire, snap it down. Reusable, rewireable, and far faster on prototype and printer harnesses than any wire nut or crimp.
  • Five conductors in one body. Use the 5-port 221-415 for junction points where you’re landing power, ground, and signal together (PSU outputs, BTT relay boards, mean-well harnesses, Neptune 4 toolhead PCBs). Two- and three-port siblings (221-412, 221-413) cover the simpler drops.
  • Inspection windows on both faces. Front and rear test ports let you probe with a multimeter without levering the wire out — invaluable on a printer that’s been running six months.
  • WAGO CAGE CLAMP® pressure plate. Gas-tight copper contact that holds its grip under thermal cycling, not a spring-finger that loosens over time.

Intended use

WAGO 221-415 connectors are the de-facto mains-voltage and low-voltage DC splicing part for Voron 0.2 / 1.8 / 2.4, V-Core 3, Klipper toolhead boards, BTT SKR / Octopus harnesses, Mean Well LRS / RSP power-supply landings, and any 3D-printer or LED-strip run-and-return where you need to bundle three to five conductors in one junction. Also widely used in ceiling-rose and ceiling-fan wiring, landscape lighting, low-voltage cabinet runs, and anywhere you want the option to rewire without cutting.

Decision guide (221 series)

  • 2 conductors (221-412): 1-in / 1-out extensions, or a single drop that just continues the run.
  • 3 conductors (221-413): 2-in / 1-out tee, or a 3-way splice in a switch loop.
  • 5 conductors (221-415): 2–4 way tee with a hot + neutral + ground landing, or any bundle where you’d otherwise reach for a wire-nut + tape.

What it is NOT

  • Not waterproof. Needs an IP-rated enclosure, junction box, or conformal boot for outdoor or condensation-prone runs.
  • Not for aluminum. WAGO 221 series is copper-only. For Al/Cu transitions use the WAGO 221/277/773 series rated for the conductor pair.
  • Not a switch / not fused. Pure passive splice; one potential across all 5 levers.
  • Not for fine-stranded below 24 AWG. Minimum is 24 AWG / 0.14 mm².
