Phaetus aeCoating NexABS-GF25 — 25% glass-fiber ABS, 1kg / 1.75mm
A glass-fiber-reinforced ABS engineering filament. What makes the aeCoating line different is its co-extrusion "skin-core" structure: the core is ABS loaded with 25% chopped glass fiber for stiffness and dimensional stability, and it's wrapped in a skin of unfilled ABS. The practical result is the warp resistance and rigidity you want from a GF-filled material, but with the interlayer bonding restored by the unfilled skin — and a clean matte finish with no fiber strands floating on the surface.
Use it where plain ABS isn't stiff enough or warps too much: brackets, jigs and fixtures, motor mounts, enclosures, and functional parts that see heat and load.
Print settings (Phaetus published)
- Nozzle / print temp: 250–270°C
- Bed temp: 100–110°C
- Build surface: PEI or PC film, smooth or textured
- Enclosure: recommended — this is an ABS-based resin, so an enclosed/draft-free chamber prevents warping and layer cracking on larger parts
- Diameter / weight: 1.75mm, 1kg spool
Hardware you need
This filament is abrasive. The 25% glass fiber will chew through a brass nozzle quickly. Phaetus and resellers specify a hardened steel, DLC-coated, tungsten-carbide, or ruby nozzle — run one or your nozzle geometry (and print quality) degrades within a spool. A 0.4mm or larger hardened nozzle is the safe default.
Drying
Glass-fiber ABS absorbs moisture. If the spool has been open or sitting, dry it before printing (roughly 60–70°C for several hours in a filament dryer) — wet GF-ABS prints rough, weak, and stringy.
Honest note: this is a stiff, heat-tolerant engineering material, not a beginner filament. Plan for an enclosure, a hardened nozzle, and dry storage and it rewards you with strong, low-warp functional parts.
