Say goodbye to part warping!

Based on a recipe devised for high temperature engineering materials (think PEEK), goo.by.frank.af is an open source high performance bed adhesive. Strong enough to print ABS on bare spring steel, great as a release agent for all your PET/PETG/TPU on PEI needs, and parts pop off the plate easily once cooled.

Included in the Kit

  • 21g Polyvinylpyrrolidine (PVP) K30
  • 9g Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)
  • 30ml PET dropper bottle
  • 2" wide foam brush for application

You will need:

  • 1L 50% Isopropyl Alcohol
    • 500ml 99% isopropyl and 500ml distilled water is fine too
  • A large bottle for storage, your alcohol's bottle is just fine

How to mix the kit:

Add both the PVA and PVP powders to your alcohol. Shake until combined.

Fill your 30ml bottle

Using the goo

frank.af uses about 1 drop per 30cm². This is just an estimate, and you can experiment with more or less as needed.

  • 120mm² bed: 5 drops
  • 160mm² bed: 9 drops
  • 180mm² bed: 11 drops
  • 235mm² bed: 18 drops
  • 250mm² bed: 21 drops
  • 300mm² bed: 30 drops
  • 350mm² bed: 41 drops

Add the goo to a cold flexplate, and spread with the foam brush. Stirring in additional water or alcohol can be added to make spreading it easier. If you want, you can dilute the 1L batch further to make spreading it easier.

Reapply every 5-10 prints or as needed. You can also "refresh" the layer by just using alcohol to re-spread the existing layer, especially helpful if you always print in the center of your bed.

Some notes

Goo does leave a little residue on the bottom of your prints. You can wipe it off with a little water or alcohol. If ABS prints get any white stress marks, you can place the part back on your print bed at 100C and they will magically dissapear within a few minutes.
