BIGTREETECH Manta M8P Klipper control board with eight driver sockets and direct CB1/CM4 support. Use it as the main controller for larger CoreXY and multi-motor builds where you want the printer MCU and Klipper host connection kept compact.
Why this board
- Eight stepper-driver sockets for high-axis-count printers and toolchanger-style builds.
- Klipper-first layout with a board-to-board connector for a BIGTREETECH CB1 or Raspberry Pi CM4-style compute module.
- 12V/24V printer input with separate high-voltage driver input support documented by BIGTREETECH for compatible drivers.
- Flexible driver support: UART for TMC2209-class drivers, SPI for TMC5160-class drivers, and STEP/DIR support for common StepStick-format drivers.
- Expansion room for BLTouch/probe wiring, filament detection, RGB, display connections, USB, LAN, and CAN on supported M8P revisions.
Specifications
- Board family: BIGTREETECH Manta M8P
- MCU family: STM32 32-bit controller, per BIGTREETECH M8P documentation
- Driver sockets: 8
- Supported driver modes: UART, SPI, STEP/DIR
- Supported drivers: TMC2209, TMC5160, TMC2208, TMC2225/TMC2226, TMC2130, ST820, LV8729, DRV8825, A4988, and compatible StepStick-format modules
- Printer power: DC 12V or 24V input
- Typical machine fit: larger Klipper printers such as Voron 2.4, VzBot, CoreXY, Cartesian, Delta, Kossel, and Ultimaker-style machines
Variant guide
- Manta M8P: board only; bring your own compute module and stepper drivers.
- + CB1 Pi Replacement: adds the BIGTREETECH CB1 compute module for a compact Klipper host setup.
- + 8 x TMC2209: adds eight UART drivers for quiet, mainstream Klipper/Marlin motion control. Need singles instead? See the BTT TMC2209 v1.2 Stepper Driver.
- + 6 x TMC2209 + 2 x 5160 PRO: gives you six quiet UART drivers plus two higher-power SPI drivers for builds that put more load on selected axes.
Good pairings
- U2C CAN Interface Board for CAN-bus expansion.
- EBB36 CAN Toolhead Board when you want to reduce toolhead wiring on a CAN setup.
- BTT Manta M5P Control Board if you need fewer driver sockets and want a smaller sibling board.
What it is not
- Not a standalone Raspberry Pi; choose a CB1/CM4-equipped variant or supply your own Klipper host.
- Not pre-configured firmware. You still need to set jumpers, flash the MCU, and build your Klipper configuration for your printer.
- Do not assume every M8P revision has identical connectors. Check the silkscreen and BIGTREETECH manual for your exact board before wiring CAN, fans, or high-voltage drivers.
