A small PCB built around the MAX6684 IC that watches the current drawn by a fan and sets its output based on disruptions in that current flow, so it flags a stalled or failed fan without needing a tachometer signal.
- Detector IC: MAX6684, fan-failure detector (senses current fluctuations at the fan low side)
- Tunable for different fans by changing capacitor C3
- Datasheet suggests 0.1uF as a starting point for C3; final value must be confirmed by bench testing
- Output can be used to trigger an alarm or shut things down on a stall
More info is in the project repo.
